Improving Health and Well-Being of the Nation Through the Education and Research

Nutrition education is key to protect people’s health and promote productive lifestyles. It has globally come to limelight as an essential catalyst for its impact in health interventions. In Afghanistan, lack of human capital in the field has been one of the main reasons that causes poor nutritional and health outcomes. In such circumstances, the importance to train professionals and educate the general public about the role of healthy dietary behaviour, household management and community well- being cannot be emphasized enough. The institute will lead the efforts to identify various nutrition and dietary problems prevalent among different segments of populations in Afghanistan through scientific research and trigger policy changes to tackle those prob- lems. Currently in Afghanistan, there is no academic entity present to provide educational training and skills in nutrition and home economics while the need to have such an Institute is more than ever.
